It is such a pleasure for me to conduct baby naming ceremonies, the naming and welcoming of the new precious addition in your lives.
A naming ceremony for a newborn or toddler is a modern alternative to a christening or a baptism, they are gradually becoming more and more popular with new parents.
Welcoming your new loved one and in a place of your choice, it could be in a formal venue, or in a favourite place, alternatively in your own home or garden (UK weather permitting)
A commemorative parchment naming certificate is included in this ceremony which can be signed by parents and guide parents during the ceremony. For a really lovely special touch and to make it extra special why not include a handprint of your baby’s hand on the certificate.
Special vows from your chosen life guardians can be read and included in the ceremony or a poem of your choice, your ceremony can be either a small intimate occasion or a BIG party, it’s your ceremony and my aim is to help you to achieve your wishes creating a day for you and your family and friends to remember.
Naming Ceremonies can also be created for Transgender, and people who have chosen a new name.
Your unique ceremony can have special elements incorporated, below is a list of some ideas how you and I can make your child’s/your naming ceremony really special.
Unity Sand Element
A unity sand ceremony is often used in a wedding, but they arguably function even better at naming ceremonies.
A unity sand ceremony consists of various members of the family adding their own personalised jar of sand into a larger container, with symbolic words spoken as they do so.
Any number of family members can be involved, with the grandparents providing the base layer of sand – as the root of the family – followed by the parents, the child itself, and then the guide parents or mentors, symbolising the protection they vow to give the child and the family.
It’s a wonderful, visual ceremony that the child involved will love, and the colours of the sand and the way it rests in the glass phial will be totally unique to your family.
A Wishing Tree
Another element which is often reserved for weddings, a wishing tree works just as well, if not better, at a naming ceremony.
A wishing tree is an opportunity for any guests at the event to write down their wishes for the life of the child, and then hang them on the wishing tree to produce a picturesque keepsake for the family to take home.
Bubbles
It might seem simple, but bubbles can create a sense of magic during a naming ceremony event, either in the ceremony itself or as a way of keeping the children happy at the after party.
For children who are easily bored or find it difficult to concentrate, bubbles can also be a welcome break in the ceremony to allow the children to let off some steam, before moving into the vows section for instance.
They also add a touch of sparkle to any photos, and can really elicit some beautiful expressions from the child or children involved.
